An existing residence with an under utilized backyard space, VDC worked closely with the client and GC to design and provide construction detailing for a new outdoor living area to include a very unique fire feature with seating areas, a level lawn area with space for sculptures as well as a new gated entrance into the back of the property.

The custom fire feature includes various levels of gas and wood burning fire with integrated boulders. The fire feature patio is located on a prime long range mountain view and set into the existing slope with retaining seat walls and monolithic stone steps. VDC also created a new stormwater channel along the side of the house that mimics a mountain stream channel. The new gated entrance is a custom design wood gate with stone veneer walls with arched opening that allows the stormwater channel to flow through to the lower part of the property where water can dissipate naturally.
